We all know the adage: “Change isn’t easy.”
But… you know what? Sometimes it is.
Sometimes, even if you’re broke, even if you’re busy, even if you’ve got 1,000 different things going on in your life at once (who doesn’t?), all it takes is 5 minutes or less to make a difference.
Today, we’re asking for those few minutes of your time — not for us, but for the elephants. We’ve launched a People’s Petition through the White House to help keep elephant families roaming free on this earth, and we’d like you to sign.
Elephants are closer to extinction than they’ve ever been before due to a vicious poaching epidemic fueled by the ivory trade. And the United States has the second largest ivory market in the world.
Your signature sends a message to the President that the American people will not stand for the destruction of a beloved species for the sake of a few ivory trinkets.
Your signature sends a message to the President that the American people will not tolerate the sale of any ivory product — even ones that seemingly appear to be “antique” — when elephant populations are so seriously at risk.
Your signature sends a message to the President that, although the elephant crisis is a global problem, one of the best things we can do is to make sure we end it here at home first.
Above all, your signature sends a message that you can’t stand the idea of a world without elephants.
We can’t either. That’s why we’re asking for at least 100,000 signatures to prompt an official response from the White House. The more signatures we have, the stronger a message we send that the ivory trade must end.
Please help us! Refuse to let the elephants disappear.
You can find a link to the petition, instructions for how to sign and the facts behind the elephant crisis at our website, www.elephantsusa.org.
And please spread the word! Tell your friends, tell your colleagues. Tell your neighbors, tell your family. Tell the world that elephants are awesome, and that it’s up to us to protect them while we still can.
Change can be easy, if we take it one small step at a time. It all starts with just one signature — yours.
